How does AFS compute daily interest?
It depends if you have a Pre-Compute (otherwise known as Add-On rate contract) or a Simple Interest contract. For Simple Interest Contracts, AFS computes daily interested (e.g. per diem) as follows:
(Principle Balance x Contract Interest Rate “APR”) / 365 = Daily Interest
Example: ($10,000 x 18%) / 365 = $4.93
Can I refinance my auto loan?
AFS does not currently offer the possibility for our customers to refinance their contracts.
What is my grace period?
The grace period is determined by the state where you executed your retail installment sales contract. The grace period only determines the number of days before a late fee is assessed on your account. Your payment is still due on or before the due date. Failure to do so will result in your account being past due and late charges being assessed. Please call us toll-free at (877) 576-2265 for more information.
At what point will I be charged a late fee?
The amount of the late fee and when it is assessed depends on the state where you executed your retail installment sales contract. For example, in Florida, if your payment is due on the 5th of each month, it must be received by the 15Th before 5:00PM EST to avoid a late fee.
May I change my payment due date?
Yes. In order to qualify to change the due date, the account must be current; the first payment must be made; the due date cannot be more than 15 days after the current due date and this request can only be done once throughout the life of the loan.
When a loan is satisfied (paid in full), when should I expect my title?
It takes 30 business days for AFS to release the title. We will send you the title by mail to the address we have on file.
